Vaccine Requirements
OVERVIEW
Four Paws Inn requires all pets staying at our facility to be current on essential vaccinations. This policy is designed to protect the health and safety of all animals in our care and is non-negotiable. Documentation of current vaccinations must be provided before check-in.
REQUIRED VACCINATIONS
Dogs:

Rabies: Current according to state law (1 or 3-year vaccination)

DHPP or DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus): Current within the past year
-
Bordetella (Kennel Cough): Current within the past 12 months
-
Canine Influenza (H3N2/H3N8): Recommended but not required
Cats:
-
Rabies: Current according to state law (1 or 3-year vaccination)
-
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia): Current within the past year
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
Acceptable Proof of Vaccination:

Veterinary records on official letterhead/form

Direct communication from veterinarian's office to Four Paws Inn

State-issued rabies certificates
-
Pet vaccination apps with verified veterinary information

Timing Requirements:

Documentation must be provided at least 48 hours before check-in

Vaccinations must be administered at least 7 days prior to check-in

Titer test results must be dated within the past 12 months
EXEMPTION POLICY
Medical Exemptions:

Written statement from licensed veterinarian required
-
Must specify medical reason for exemption

Must be dated within 30 days of check-in
-
Additional health screening may be required
-
Titer testing may be requested in lieu of vaccination
Age Exemptions:
-
Puppies under 16 weeks may have incomplete vaccination series
-
Senior dogs may qualify for exemptions with veterinary documentation
-
Case-by-case evaluation required
Religious or Personal Exemptions:
-
Not accepted under any circumstances
HOME VACCINATION POLICY
Vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian. Self-administered or pet store vaccinations are not accepted.
EXPIRED VACCINATIONS
Grace Period:
-
No grace period offered

Pets with expired vaccinations will not be admitted

Emergency boarding arrangements may be made only if client agrees to immediate veterinary vaccination appointment
Vaccination During Stay:
-
Four Paws Inn does not administer vaccinations
-
Pets requiring vaccination during extended stays must be transported to a veterinarian by owner or authorized representative
PARASITES & PREVENTATIVE TREATMENTS
While not vaccinations, the following preventative treatments are required:

Flea and tick prevention (administered within 30 days of check-in)

Heartworm prevention (dogs only)

Negative fecal test within 6 months
VERIFICATION PROCESS

Vaccination records reviewed at time of submission
-
Verification call to veterinarian may be made if records are unclear

Physical inspection of pet upon check-in
-
Additional health screening for pets with medical exemptions
NON-COMPLIANCE CONSEQUENCES
Pets arriving without proper vaccination documentation will be:

Denied admission

Subject to cancellation policy fees
-
Referred to local veterinary services for immediate vaccination

Eligible for check-in only after vaccination and appropriate waiting period
CLIENT COMMUNICATION
This policy will be communicated to clients:

During initial reservation process

In reservation confirmation emails
-
48 hours before scheduled arrival as a reminder
